The Patchwork Plaza is the bustling center of the Gridfall, full of energy, culture, and expression. In the middle of the chaos is a small corner of serenity, a perfectly neat and organised workshop where everything from broken lampposts to a malfunctioning glider can be repaired. Though I would prefer that the explosions of energy and excitement stay outside these walls, my door is always open for anyone who needs help with repairs. In this workshop, there is a place for everything and everything is in its place. — Mita
Movement is everywhere. In people. In plants. In animals. In you. Here in the Gridfall, we don’t just notice that energy, we catch it, spin it, and turn it into electricity. Every step on a kinetic dance pad charges the battery totems that keep our district glowing. Tell me… is there anything better than lighting up the city with a dance party? Didn’t think so. Now go on, show us your moves! — Leela
We high-key stan these old subway tunnels and the mysterious energy that they bring to the district. They used to carry people around cities on Old Earth as part of a system called ‘public transport’. Now, we explore these tunnels to look for anything sus that might give us the tea on why the Uplift happened and how we can prevent anything like it from happening again. Some Loftians say they can hear scratching sounds coming from behind the cave-ins, no cap. They’re either delulu or there may be more hiding in the tunnels than we think. — Atlas
Old Earth continues to flex on us with the unlimited amount of objects that continue to arrive in Loftia. These relics soon started overwhelming our island storage and the idea was formed to create a museum to store them. This new building is created from repurposed shipping containers and other materials found throughout the district. The Museum accepts donations from all Loftians to advance our pursuit of Old Earth’s history so we can learn from the past to shape our future. — Atlas
When we first saw the Gridfall as it arrived—a massive slice of an island falling floating towards us—the potential of what we could create from its mountains of scrap seemed limitless. We repaired the blocks of towering buildings to ensure they were all structurally sound then explored all the new possibilities that were open to us. In no time at all we had new hydroponics research in progress, a museum of Old Earth history on the way, and a beautiful plaza at the centre of it all. Since moving in, the residents brought all of their energy with them, and now the Gridfall has been home to many Loftians for years. Pressure creates diamonds, in the same way that beauty can be created from a pile of scrap. — Mita
Man… the Gridfall was such a junkheap when it first showed up. Mita, Cliff, and I got over there to set up an Airtram station, that way the rest of the gang could come help build up the district. After the tram got up and runnin’, we all got together to clear some paths through the district. Then we each took a section of the district and salvaged the wreckage that had floated in with the island. We used the scrap we collected to create the district’s core infrastructure; the grindrails, kinetic energy pads, and streetlights. I gotta admit, there’s something nice about knowing that the district is made from the same stuff it showed up with. Kinda like it’s kept its own spirit the whole time. — Milo
Some might question the viability of agriculture in the Gridfall. It is true that the majority of our food supply still originates from the Hanging Gardens. However, reliance on a single external source introduces unnecessary intermediaries. Local production reduces that dependency and shortens the supply chain: a closed-loop model, direct from grower to consumer. Hydroponics enables plant cultivation without soil. Instead, roots are suspended in a mineral-enriched water solution, delivering nutrients with precision and minimal waste. Effective. Efficient. Sustainable. Preferable. — Dr. Marie
Old Earth was stacked with so many objects in every shape, color, and size. No cap. We think these relics were yeeted across the world during the Uplift and now they’re hidden all over Loftia. Some things that we’ve found absolutely slap, like the unsolvable puzzle cubes, the invincible bricks with buttons, and the infinitely spinning fidgets. We still don’t know what the purpose of every single object was, but sometimes you just have to take the L and accept it for what it is. Every artifact had a life before we found it. Now they can pass on their history and teach us new lessons for Loftia. — Atlas
Loftia is built on connection, hope, and love. I hope to inspire the same messages in the residents with my street art. I think there is something wonderful about art that is temporary by design. To live in the moment and not be concerned with where all of your creations will be in ten years time. It’s like a snapshot in time of a thought, a feeling, an idea. — Blanksy
During the early visits to the Gridfall we decided that we would need a unique travel system to help Loftians navigate the twisting, turning, and overlapping structures that make up the district. I designed a new style of public transportation that allowed us to ride a wide network of rails using a custom set of boots that magnetically clamp onto the structure. — Milo Once we started, creating the rail segments was simple and repetitive work that we easily mastered. The hard part came later when we needed to install each segment and make sure they were properly linked at each connection point. The process may have involved a flimsy safety rope and emergency glider. No speaking chinchillas were harmed during the testing phase. — Mita
