The Dome is not just a lovely piece of infrastructure that houses our Hot Air Balloon. Its greenhouse effect also encourages plant growth and protects the more fragile breeds from the sun and weather. Furthermore, the geodesic design makes the Dome an incredibly strong structure while also reducing the materials required for construction. Loftia’s structures are designed to embed themselves seamlessly into nature and complement the environment, rather than fight it. — Amani
As the go-to fashion consultant here in Loftia, I have discovered that first impressions are just so important! I was searching for an accessory to wear while meeting all these wonderful new Loftians when, by chance, I found the perfect floral fabric that had snagged on a bush outside my store! I tied it into a lovely neck scarf and it has been with me ever since. — Linda Sí, what a wonderful coincidence that was, and that neck scarf really is so pretty! It may also be just a coincidence that there is a bolt of that same fabric tucked away in my studio. Loftia has always had a magical way of fulfilling our needs! Sharing gifts with friends is just another form of Loftian magic, is it not, cariño? — Estella
Old Earth was such a big place full of so many different kinds of food and drinks! Mixing all those different cultures and communities together created such wonderful cuisines and we want to try and capture that magic here at the Global Village. The little drinks stall that I run stocks just a small selection of all the different beverages that were once available. It’s not much but I hope it will bring everyone some happiness to have the chance to try these old recipes. — Jun Come to the Global Village. Or not. Either way, we’re always open. — Kun
With Atlas’ Old Earth research and Amani’s engineering, we have been able to apply farming techniques from an ancient civilization known as the Inca Empire. With this knowledge, we can create microclimates across the varying heights of Loftia’s islands to encourage the growth of luscious, sprawling vegetation throughout the city. It gives us physical gifts in the form of oxygen, plants, and animal life. However, it also quiets our minds and allows us to slow down and appreciate the power of nature. The whisper of the leaves and creaking of the branches brings so much peace to everyone who can hear it. Standing here amongst the greenery and soil is where the city feels the most alive. — Herb
It was inevitable that Loftians would start getting interested in other islands. To stop anyone flinging themselves off the side of the city with nothing more than an umbrella and a dream, I decided that we needed to start exploring new methods of travel. We started the travel tests with a group of Loftians that had all been briefed with proper safety procedures and equipped with a parachute. After testing various methods that all used variations of ‘throwing’, ‘launching’ and ‘tossing’ we decided on the Aerial Tramway system that we dubbed the Airtram. — Cliff
The increased elevation of Loftia means that solar power is more efficient for us than it ever was for the communities of Old Earth. We benefit from cooler operating temperatures and less atmospheric interference which means that more energy is absorbed by our panels. We decided that we should also adapt the design to be used by consumers as a personal power source on Loftian islands. The batteries for both our solar farms and personal designs use recycled materials such as copper, silicon, and glass from discarded TV and computer units in their construction. The light of the sun is something that I will never take for granted. It creates dazzling sunsets, warm days, and power for our humble city. — Amani
This ship is my not-so-little buddy called Humphrey who helps us find new islands to explore. This big zeppelin is in the shape of a ‘whale’ which Kassim says were massive animals that lived in the water like fish, but also breathed air! Atlas found an old book about a whale called Humphrey that sometimes got lost while swimming out in the ocean. Occasionally, Humphrey drifts slightly off-course so I thought the name suited him. — Ryder
Hey there! This is my scrapyard, an old part of the city that’s home to all the stuff that doesn’t already have its own place. I know that some may call this junk, but I can see the potential in every little screw, bolt, and washer. Now, it's important that I tell you about the best items that I’ve found in the scrapyard so far, so you can appreciate it all too! First, a fuzzy alien creature that I think must be from outer space, a plank of wood that is going to be just the right size for a future project, and finally, the bounciest tire ever that will be perfect for a future DiY project. — Milo
This construction site is the home of creation and restoration. Here I can work on personal projects and also have the space to do urgent city repairs. One of the solar trees in the city farm was recently damaged in a severe storm. Our neighbors were able to quickly salvage some metal in the Gridfall, however the part was too large to carry in the Airtram. I bartered with Ryder for the use of his adventure ship to fly over and pick up the material. Payment for this favor was a day's work on his ship’s landing platform. Life in Loftia is a balance of give and take. — Amani
Atlas and I were among the small group of residents that first arrived on this floating piece of land that would become Loftia City. For all of us this was a second chance for us to listen to the land and hear what she was saying. We finally had an opportunity to live in harmony with nature, rather than at the expense of it. — Herb That’s no cap, Herb and I were some of the first Loftians ever. We founded this goated place called Loftia and it was giving main character energy. We thought we were going to get ghosted when we started broadcasting messages of hope out into the void, but new Loftians actually showed up to check the vibe. Pretty quickly our small city was highkey bussin’ with all these new residents. — Atlas
